Mr. William Rhodes, Vice Chairman of Citigroup and Chairman of Citibank., visited China from Feb. 27th to March 5th. Vice Premier Huang Ju met with Mr. Rhodes on March 4th in Beijing.

    Vice Premier Huang had a conversation with Mr. Rhodes about China's financial reform. Huang said that China has successfully used monetary policy to exert macro-economic control and hoped that the Citigroup could strengthen its cooperation with China's commercial banks to help advance China's financial reform.

    Mr. Rhodes raised some suggestions for China's financial reform, believing that the reform is vital important to China's lasting and sustainable economic development. He also conveyed to the Vice Premier some suggestions on China's economy from Mr. John Snow, Minister of U.S. Department of Treasury.
