    At the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Former US Secretary of Defense William Cohen led a 4-member group visited China from January 9th-15th, 2005. The group visited Beijing and Shanghai, and met Mr. Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of China-US People's Friendship Association, Mr. Zhou Wenzhong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Xiong Guangkai, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Mr. Zhu Zhixin, Vice Minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor of the People's Bank of China, Mr. Liu Mingkang, Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Mr. Zheng Xiaoyu, State Food and Drug Administration, and Mr. Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai. In Beijing, Secretary Cohen was interviewed by CCTV, China Daily, CNN, Washington Post and some other media, and he gave a speech at the China Foreign Affairs University, entitled Perils and Promises of the Future.
