    Mr. William B. Harrison, Jr., Chairman & CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase Co., visited Beijing.

    Mr. William B. Harrison Jr., Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan Chase Co. visited Beijing from June 16th to 19th, where he hosted the annual conference of the company's international consultation commission. Vice Premier Huang Ju met him on June 18th. Vice Premier Huang briefly introduced the achievements made by China in macro-economic control. He said, trade between China and other countries around the world has witnessed rapid growth since China's reform and opening-up. The sustainable economic development and China's adherence to WTO's rules created huge business opportunities for American businesses and those of other countries. Mr. Harrison said that his company attaches much importance to cooperation with the Chinese businesses. The on-going conference of international consultation commission consolidated his confidence in investing more in China. Vice Premier Huang told Mr. Harrison that China will adhere to reform and opening-up, and hoped J.P. Morgan Chase could strengthen its cooperation with the Chinese financial institutes and give more attention to the development in the rural areas, the northwestern and northeastern region of China.
