President Xu Kuangdi

Mr. Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of the National
Committee of the Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference and
President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, became concurrently President of
China-US People¡¯s Friendship Association since 2004. As a renowned Chinese
metallurgist, he is also a university professor and instructor of Ph.D
candidates in Shanghai, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as
foreign academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) and the Swedish
Royal Academy of Engineering.
In 1959,
Mr. Xu Kuangdi graduated from Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering,
and taught at his alma mater, the Shanghai Institute of Technology, Shanghai
Institute of Machinery and Shanghai University of Technology successively as
assistant, lecturer, associate professor, and professor. He was Vice President
of Shanghai University of Technology.
He was
appointed Deputy Director of Shanghai Education Commission and concurrently
Director of Shanghai Higher Educational Bureau in 1989; and Director of Shanghai
Planning Commission in 1991. He was elected Deputy Mayor of Shanghai
municipality in 1992 and Mayor in 1995, President of Chinese Academy of
Engineering in 2002, and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese
People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference in 2003.
He was conferred Honorary Juris Doctor by Hong Kong
University, and Honorary Ph.D in Engineering by Hong Kong University of Science
& Technology. He married in 1961 with Miss Xu Luoping, and has two daughters.
Vice President Li
Xiaolin

Ms. Li Xiaolin graduated as BA in English language from Wuhan University in 1975 and then joined the Chinese People¡¯s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), where she successively assumed the post of Chief of the Division of US Affairs, Deputy Director General and Director General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs. From 1990 to 1992, she served as First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the United States . In 1996, she was made Vice President of CPAFFC and concurrently Vice President of the Chinese Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development attached to CPAFFC. In 2003, she was elected into the National Committee of the Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference.
She studied at the University of California in Los Angeles from 1982 to 1983 and
graduated as MA in Asian American Studies.
