People’s Friendship Association

Huang Zhen1st President of CUSPFA , 1986-1989

 

    Ambassador Huangzhen graduated from Xinhua Art University of Shanghai in 1927 and joined the Red Army in 1931. He retired from the military as a general after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and started his new career as a senior diplomat. He assumed successively the posts of Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Ambassador to France, and Director of the Liaison Office of the People's Republic of China in the United States. After December 1977, he took the posts of First Vice Minister of the Department of Information of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Director of the Commission of Cultural Liaison with Foreign Countries, Honorary President of China International Friendship Promotion Council, President of China-US People’s Friendship Association, etc.

 

    He was Member of the Standing Committee of the 5th National People's Congress, Advisor of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 6th National People's Congress and member of the Standing Committee of the 5th and 6th National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

 

Han Xu2nd  President of CUSPFA, 1989-1992

 

    Ambassador Hanxu joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and successively took the posts of section chief and Assistant Director of the Protocol Department, First Secretary and Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the Soviet Union, Deputy Director-General and Director-General of the Protocol Department, Deputy Director (ambassadorial level) of the Liaison Office in the United States, Director-General of the Department of North American & Oceania Affairs and Chinese Ambassador to the United States.

 

    From 1989 onwards, he assumed the post of President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. He was member of the Standing Committee and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 8th National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

 

Zhu Qizhen3rd  President of CUSPFA, 1992-2003

 

    Zhu Qizhen graduated from St. John’s University in 1948. After joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November 1949, he held a series of positions, including Deputy Director of the General Office, Second Secretary and First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Director and Deputy Director General of the Department of West-Asian and North-African Affairs, Counselor for Political Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, Deputy Director General and Director General of the Department of the Affairs of the Americas and Oceania, Assistant Foreign Minister, Vice Foreign Minister and Chinese Ambassador to the United States. From 1993 to 1997, he was member of the Standing Committee of the 8th National People's Congress and Deputy Director of the Committee of Foreign Affairs.
